‘Boyfriend kills girlfriend with brick’

Dikhutso Seete allegedly struck Lefika Letsolesele with a brick on the head on July 1, 2017 at or near Botalaote ward in Mahalapye.

When the case continued before Justice Bengbame Sechele on Tuesday, the reasons why Seete allegedly murdered Letsolesele were not revealed.

The forensic pathologist who examined the body of Letsolesele Dr Kaone Panzirah-Mabaka told the court that he came to the conclusion that “cause of death was traumatic scar and brain injuries due to blunt force trauma to the head.”

When defence counsel Comfort Dubani told Panzirah-Mabaka that the accused will testify that the deceased had taken alcohol which factor contributed to him losing a lot of blood, Panzirah-Mabaka said that he heard theories to the effect that people who taken alcohol lose a lot of blood when they are injured as compared to those who did not take it.

Panzirah-Mabaka then debunked that theory saying that there was nothing like that in the literature of forensic pathology...

A police officer who testified in court said that the accused called them on July 1, 2017 around 0535 hours telling them that he had hit his girlfriend with a brick on the head and he was not sure if she was alive or dead.

The police officer said the accused then took them to Botalaote ward whereupon they entered a one-roomed yard where they found the deceased lying in a pool of blood on the floor.

The policeman then told the court that the accused showed them a blood stained brick which he said he used to kill the deceased by hitting her on the head.

The case continues.
