The Jwaneng-based side retained the five-point lead at the top of the league table following the win. With their closest rivals, Gaborone United (GU) not giving up yet on their title defence, Galaxy went to Itekeng stadium in mean mood and scored five against hapless Orapa United and put one hand on the league trophy.

GU on the same day also registered an important victory against city rivals, Township Rollers in Lobatse to keep in the race. A loss for GU on Saturday would have effectively confirmed Galaxy as the league champions with two round of matches left. Now Galaxy will have to win at least one out two games left to win their second league title in three seasons.

Led by South African gaffer, Morena Ramoreboli, Galaxy have been on fire for the entire second round of the league. They however recently suffered a dip in form, allowing GU to get closer.

They returned back to winning ways a fortnight ago when they beat Police XI 1-0. Many had expected a tightly contested tie at Itekeng Stadium against the Ostriches but it turned out to be a one-sided affair. Last season’s golden boot winner, Thabang Sesinyi proved his consistency in front of goals once again when he scored a hattrick against his former side on Saturday. The other goals came from Namibian goal poacher, Wendell Rudath as well as an own from Orapa United captain, Thabang Mosige.

The log leaders are yet to play Holy Ghost who are currently fighting to stay in the elite league. They also still have to play Eleven Angels who have already secured their Premier League status. GU on the other hand are yet to play Police XI and BDF XI.
