The state alleges that Morapedi Modimoopelo, Mmilili Chiche and a Zimbabwean, Abel Gumbo robbed Patricia Mogorosi on September 28, 2021 in Molebatsi ward in Tonota.

They allegedly robbed her P2,300, stole her car and cellular phones and laptop among other properties.

Court documents show that the trio tore Mogorosi’s pyjamas leaving her stark naked.

They then told Mogorosi that she should give them money if she did not want to die, forced Mogorosi’s son to enter her room while she was naked and told her to give them money if she did not want to die too.

The court documents also show that a shotgun used by the trio to rob Mogorosi is a licensed gun belonging to a Chinese businessman.

It is not clear how the gun landed in possession of the accused.

However, the Chinese man reported that his gun was stolen at Serowe police station.

The gun was used to commit robberies in Serowe and Palapye but it remains a mystery why nobody was charged with possession of a stolen gun even though its owner gave Serowe police video footage of people who broke into his house and then stole the gun.

The case was set for continuation of trial but it did not proceed after Modimoopelo told Magistrate Game Mooketsi that he was having psychological problems following the loss of his child due to a miscarriage.

Mooketsi then made an order for Modimoopelo to be taken to the hospital for doctors to determine whether he was fit to continue with trial or not.
