PNRB ploughs back into community

The donations are part of the proceeds from their maiden Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) event dubbed Tsholofelo Carnival, which was held last year in September.
The carnival incorporated an Art Exhibition and Show, Tsholofelo Idea Pitch, a networking dinner, an Independence Day lunch, a carnival music festival, and carnival football challenges.
In an interview, PNRB environment, social and governance (ESG) vice president Shamil Agosi said funds raised during the people’s festival and various activities accumulating P44, 538.00 will be distributed to deserving organisations that align with the objectives of the carnival. “Based on their immediate needs, the proceeds from the Tsholofelo Carnival 2022 will be donated to the Good Samaritan Association and the changing lives organisation. Each of the NGO will be allocatedP22, 269.00 respectively,” she added.
Agosi stated that the donation will go in the long run to assist the organisations to continue making a positive impact in the community. “It was agreed that proceeds from the community project be distributed to deserving NGOs serving Selebi-Phikwe and surrounding village’s communities,” she added. PNRB ESG further elaborated that 43 people will benefit from the donation.
She also said the CSR initiative is a way of resuscitating the socio-economic growth of Selebi-Phikwe and surrounding areas. Agosi stated that the aim of this initiative is to build capacities of youth, artists and entrepreneurs in the region, strengthen stakeholder collaborations for sustainable impact and celebrate the regional cultural pluralism thereby promoting tourism in SPEDU area.
She said that with the planning of the Tsholofelo Carnival 2023 in hindsight, they have made all the post initiatives and wish to disburse the proceeds of the event to the deserving non-profit organisations. This year’s event, which is anticipated to be bigger and better, will be held on September 30.
