FIFA took the step after Gunners failed to pay P400,000 owed to defender, Desire Bafana. On February 20, Gunners was given 45 days to pay the amount or risk a player transfer ban.

However, the troubled Lobatse side, which was recently relegated from the Premier League, failed to comply with the order. 'We take note that due in its correspondence the creditor informs us that the respondent, the Club Extension Gunners has not complied with its financial in accordance with the decision of FIFA.

In this regard, we wish to inform the parties that a ban from registering new players has been implemented by FIFA today,' reads FIFA's correspondence. FIFA advised the Botswana Football Association (BFA) to effect the ban for national transfers as well. Gunners has faced a plethora of challenges, resulting in the resignation of almost the entire executive committee, while players have gone for months unpaid. The situation culminated in the relegation of the team for the first time in its history. Gunners will campaign in the First Division South league next season.
