Head coach, Leutwetse Tshireletso was left an elated man after the game ended. "I am happy with the three points and another clean sheet. I am that person who likes playing good football," Tshireletso said. Asked about the presence of former Orlando Pirates stars, Brighton Mhlongo and Oupa Manyisa, Tshireletso was hesitant to speak about them. "I was not here when Mahumatsa (Rooi) was brought in and with Manyisa and Mhlongo I do not know anything," he said. The two South African players were amongst the spectators in Gamononyane yesterday. From the first whistle signaling the start of the game, VTM went all out looking for an early goal.

On the 6th minute, Thato Mogorosi for VTM nearly broke the deadlock with a powerful shot outside the box. With 15 minutes gone in the first half, Chiefs had not proved to be of any threat. VTM continued to probe for a goal. On the 18th minute, VTM missed another great chance after Chiefs goalkeeper, Tumisang Selolwane parried the ball onto the incoming Lucky Mokwena who headed wide. Just on the brink of halftime, VTM broke the deadlock courtesy of Ernest Tawazadza's header from Sfiso Myeni's free kick on the 39th minute.

Two minutes into the second half, VTM stretched the lead through Kennedy Taukobong's header from a Myeni's corner. VTM seemed to be on a rampage as they continued probing for another goal. Centre Chiefs gradually got back into the game enjoying some bit of possession. But their moments of possession did not yield any results. With few minutes into the field of play, Mahumatsa nearly registered himself on the score sheet with a header. Thabang Mooketsi of Chiefs tried his luck outside the box but VTM goalkeeper, Victor Mothakga made an easy save. It proved to be really VTM's day as Chiefs could not contain them throughout the game. VTM bagged maximum points in front of the full VTM Arena.
