The match, played on Wednesday ended goalless. Khuduga is a television channel which mostly broadcasts through ISDBT Set Top Box. The move by Khuduga and Angels is viewed as a blatant transgression against the BFL broadcasting rules. State broadcaster, Botswana Television (Btv) owns the league’s broadcasting rights.

The latest development comes just weeks after BFL workshoped clubs on the importance of branding the league well and adhering to laid down marketing rules as well regulations.

The Botswana Football League chief executive officer, Senzo Mbatha said the organisation will move swiftly and take stern action against Angels and Khuduga. “This is totally out of order (broadcasting matches on Khuduga).

There’s a process to be followed for such special broadcast. "Fortunately, we have also received two emails through the football operations regarding this transgression,” Mbatha told Mmegi Sport. “I can add that we will deal with the matter internally with the member club including the broadcaster and we will make an announcement soon,” he added. More than a year ago, Khuduga inked a broadcasting deal with another BPL side, Security Systems. Under the agreement, Khuduga was to broadcast Systems matches on social media. It remains unclear as to what happened to the deal. Khuduga is owned by Peter Kgathola who recently assumed part ownership of Angels.

A quick search on the Companies and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA) database indicate that Kgathola now owns 50% shares of the club. The remaining 50% is owned by the club founder and coach, Seemo Mpatane.

Kgathola reportedly owns several businesses and is widely thought to be the man who recently financed the purchase of a bus for the club. According to insiders at Angels, Kgathola has also availed funds to finance the club’s operations. Until his arrival, Angels struggled to finance key activities such as paying players’ salaries. Mpatane did not respond to Mmegi Sport inquiries when contacted for comment, despite repeated efforts to get hold of him.
