No charges yet in 'baptism gone wrong'

The tragic incident occured two weeks ago. Commenting on progress on investigations, Ramotswa Police Station Commander Superintendent, Keoagile Tau said to date his office has not laid charges to anyone. According to Tau, they received a report around 7pm that two males aged 18 and 28 drowned in the Notwane River, in Ramotswa during a baptism ceremony.

Asked if they have charged anyone with murder or any other offence, Tau said they still treat the cases as drowning incidents. “We have not charged anyone as yet, the matter is still being treated as a drowning incident. However, investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what really transpired,” Tau said. Meanwhile, the deceased have since been buried.
