BCP hits back at AP

In the statement, the BCP explains that they met with the AP and the BLP on the 17th of April,2023 of with the hope to finalise talks, “and on developing an electoral vehicle that will facilitate a credible and sustainable change of government in 2024.”
According to the BCP it is at this meeting that the AP told them of their intention to withdraw from the negotiations.
“ The BCP is disappointed with the latest developments and hopes that ongoing attempts to save the talks will result in AP reversing its decision to withdraw from the talks. We would like to place it on record that the BCP went into these negotiations in good faith, with laser focus on the objectives of the cooperation project and utmost faithfulness to the agreed process principles and decision-making criteria,” the BCP said in a statement.
The statement continues, “The BCP further confirms that we are committed to a purposeful unity of parties that believe in good democratic governance on terms that strengthen the collective and position it to excel in the 2024 elections. The BCP is currently consulting different layers of its leadership and promises to revert after the consultations.”
