The accident occurred at around 3:30am according to the No. 2 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang told The Monitor. Oketsang said the passenger trio lost their lives when their Toyota Runx collided with a Toyota Camry.

“The Camry was driven by a 26-year-old man who was heading south from north and the Toyota Runx was driven by a 46-year-old man who was heading north from the southern part of the A1 Highway. Both drivers escaped death by a whisker and are currently clinging to life at the Palapye Primary Hospital,” Oketsang said.

Oketsang stated that investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what transpired. However, he said they suspect that one of the drivers might have lost control of the car resulting in a collision. “The accident occurred early in the morning and we suspect fatigue hence we plead with motorists to rest when they are tired. We always encourage drivers to rest, especially when driving long distances and not to drink and drive but they won’t comply.

They end up causing accidents because they will be tired and sleepy,” Oketsang said.
