DJ Wallay dies in suspected suicide

The news of his passing surfaced on social media on Wednesday morning. In an interview with MmegiOnline, Gaborone West Police Station commander, Superintendent Knight Moalosi confirmed that they are investigating a case of a suspected suicide. “Yes, it is true that we are investigating a suspected suicide case in which DJ Wallay was found dead. We received a call last night (Tuesday) at around 8pm to go to a crime scene where DJ Wallay was found dead. At the moment we only suspect suicide but we are currently busy with investigations to establish if indeed it was really suicide,” Moalosi says.

It is said DJ Wallay committed suicide at his homestead in G-West Phase 1 by hanging himself. Furthermore, Yarona FM confirmed his passing on their Facebook page "His music on #TheCoolerboxMix created memories, touched hearts, and made us dance. We will always remember you Walekgotla Realeboga Toteng," reads the Facebook post. Prior to his death, DJ Wallay had been crying out for help on his social media platforms stating that he was going through a rough patch in his life. On his Twitter page, DJ Wallay posted several tweets, one of them reads: "God hear me out, this cannot be my life right now. Go thatanyana. Modimo help."

His last tweet reads: “At this point, nothing else matters.” His passing has left many people in shock, with several of his peers and fans taking to social media to pay their respects. DJ Wallay was a resident deejay at Yarona FM for ‘The Climax’ show which aired for 30 minutes from 5:30pm to 6pm.
