Seretse was welcomed back into the party yesterday at the launch of party candidate for vacant Bosele ward, Isaac Moseki. Seretse is the cousin to former president Ian Khama.

When welcoming Seretse back to the party, Vice President Slumber Tsogwane said; “Seretse has applied for party membership just like any other person. His membership was approved by the branch committee and the party central committee endorsed it. Hence, we are welcoming him openly to the party.” He was welcomed with other three members.

When given a chance to speak, Seretse thanked the BDP for welcoming him back.

“I have been to the opposition party for five years and there was no order where I was. I am used to ordering and I believe in the truth. I am an outspoken person and when I believe in something and know that whatever I say is the truth. I don’t believe in bootlicking or ‘bolope’ in Setswana. I will be like any other ordinary member who works for the party,” Seretse said.

Seretse was a member of the Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) and he also sat in the party disciplinary committee.

However, Tsogwane said the BDP is open to everyone who wants to come back to it and urged party members to work well with new members who are retracing their steps back to the party.

He further urged residents of Bosele ward to vote for Moseki because he is capable of bringing changes and would also advocate for developments in the ward.

He said the BDP candidate has been working well with residents of Bosele ward even before he had an aspiration of representing them.

The by-election for Bosele ward in Gaborone Bonnington North and Grootlaagte ward in Ghanzi North constituencies will be held on Saturday.

As for Bosele ward, Moseki will battle it out with Botswana Congress Party (BCP) candidateKgomotso Kaelo, Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Maplanka Mpule, Botswana Labour Party (BLP), Sesupo Olebile and independent candidate Molomo Montsho.
