Dow denounces Kgosi Mosadi’s Pan-African Parliament removal

Parliament removed Kgosi Mosadi yesterday from the committee and replaced her with Dow, something that the Specially Elected MP says is not supported by the law regulating election to the Pan-African Parliament and is therefore of no force or effect.
In a letter written to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Dow says she was not in Parliament when the issue was debated and put to a vote. “It was my understanding, at all material times, that Kgosi Mosadi had expressed a desire to be excused from continued service at the Pan-African Parliament. I have since ascertained that Kgosi Mosadi has not resigned from the Pan-African Parliament nor does she intend to do so. The position, therefore, is that no vacancy exists and thus none is available for filling,” she highlighted.
Kgosi Mosadi who at the time of her removal was attending a Pan-African Parliament committee meeting in South Africa last week led her tribe to a historic victory against government at the Court of Appeal over a piece of land in the outskirts of Gaborone called Forest Hill 9-KO. After the triumph, Dow was one of the legislators who congratulated Kgosi Mosadi and her tribe for fighting for their land. Dow has been at loggerheads with the BDP leadership since her removal from the Cabinet in 2020. Dow was also part of former Cabinet minister, Nonofo Molefhi’s Team Equity which lost to Vice President Slumber Tsowane’s team at last year’s BDP Congress.
