Grandpalm Hotel, Casino and Convention Resort hosted leading phenomenal women in their different fields to a breakfast session to celebrate the commemoration.

This years commemoration is held under the theme DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality. In attendance were leading women in technology, media, marketing, beauty industry, IT, Politics and business.

Speaking at the event, Grandpalm’s General Manager (GM), Keletso Bogatsu highlighted that, “many years ago women compromised what they had for us to be able to have our sit at the table. This year’s theme is a question, how do we create equal opportunities for women in our respected areas.”

“For us at Grand Palm we partner with the likes of women owned local business like Shedol and give them a platform to sour higher as they partner with,” she added.

One of the phenomenal women at the event, the founder and head formulator of local cosmetics manufacturing company Shedol , Kgomotso Twagirayezu who has been hailed as a trailblazer in her field also shared her story.

Twagirayezu shared how the Shedol story came about. She said as a business woman the play field is not always level as compared to their male counterpart, but with determination she has persevered on.

She said the Covid-19 pandemic affected her business , but she had to come with new strategies to stay afloat. She encouraged women in the business field that it is never easy “but all you can do is continue fighting.”

Meanwhile, in her closing remarks, after fun field activities that the attendants of the champagne breakfast engaged in, the hotel's Marketing Manager, Malebogo Bahakgametse reiterated the hotel’s commitment to supporting women owned businesses.

“We are truly big advocates in supporting women led business and hope to continue with this type of engagement. It is always inspiring to be a room full of potential so we could all learn from each other,” Bahakgametse shared.

She continued :“It is at these engagement were collaborations are forges, we long lasting relationships are forged. So let us mingle and network.”
