In an incident in which a 20-year-old woman was attacked and raped by a stranger while walking home alone from a local bar around 3am police are yet to locate and arrest the unknown suspect.

Confirming the cases, No: 3 Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Theriso Thatayotlhe said the victim could not identify the suspect because it was dark. “After committing the offence the suspect fled the crime scene. Investigations of these kinds of cases are giving us a headache because we are looking for someone who is not known.

Not that we condone rape, but I am pleading with women to avoid walking alone at night because they are vulnerable as compared to their male counterparts,” he said.

Moreover, Thatayotlhe said they are also investigating another rape case in which a woman woke up in a compromising situation after suspecting she had been raped not but could not recall the previous night’s events. “The previous night while partying drinking alcohol the victim was offered a drug and she accepted it only to wake up the following morning in a compromising situation suspecting to have been raped,” he said.
