GUC hosts a successful career fair after the BGCSE results

The open day provided a platform for the institution to showcase its programmes and outputs and allowed members of the public and prospective tertiary students to ask questions and interact with GUC staff from various departments.
The goal of the career fair was to provide relevant information about different career paths to high school leavers and the general public. The university brought all of its departments and support service departments together for a comprehensive outreach program.
The fair drew a large number of high school graduates and professionals interested in furthering their education, who visited the stalls to inquire about available courses and fees, with several of them applying on the spot.
GUC offered a 10% discount on all courses for those who applied on the spot during the fair. The Honorable Councilor of Francistown Modiri Jojo Lucas encouraged prospective students to be more innovative in order to diversify the economy and assist the government in creating jobs.
“I urge you to register companies while you are still under the wings of GUC, this will allow you to learn more fundamental stages of starting and running a business and by the time you finish your school then you would have known what is expected by the local and international markets,” he said.
He also reminded GUC students to use the internet to further their studies and become more researchers in order to know what the world expects of them today.
"The world has become one global village; hence, you need to be awake to the changes happening and bring solutions to the challenges facing the world through innovation." "The government has provided free internet throughout the country in various areas such as kgotlas, clinics, malls, and many other important public areas," Lucas said. Vee Mampeezy, who has also taken the initiative to enroll and study law, attended the event and took the stage to entertain the audience while also sharing relevant information about the university.
In his keynote address, Deputy Mayor of Francistown Lesego Kwambala urged school learners and adults who care about their lives and want to improve them to visit the GUC stalls presented. "If there's one thing that no one can ever take away from you, it's your education, and GUC today is providing a platform for you to see what you can do to improve your life," he said. Kwambala stated that GUC is the first institution to hold a career fair following the release of the BGCSE results. “In this day and age, when people describe a young person, they are associated with drug and alcohol abuse and crime, but let us change that so that when people think of Francistown's youth, they think of people who care about their studies and education,” he continued. The Deputy Mayor emphasized the importance of education and continued education, as well as encouraging the public to enroll in GUC as it has grown and produced people we now look up to. “Education is the most important investment you can make in your life; never stop learning-thuto ga e hele ebile thuto ga e golelwe,” he said.
