The visibly irate Tshukudu said this on Thursday at a press briefing and where he highlighted all the ‘wrong turns’ that have left the country and indeed Batswana suffering.

“The DIS involves itself in everything, whether it's tendering processes, hiring of government officials. Where do they get all this mandate?,” Tshukudu asked rhetorically.

Tshukudu stated: “We wonder which school they attended that has taught them to be experts at everything. They think they are experts at everything so much so that they involve themselves in all government processes.”

“We should be worried as a country when our President and leader does not see all of these things or when he seemingly ignores all these facts before him. They (DIS) are supposed to be providing intelligence, the investigation powers are not with them. Now we find ourselves in situations where the DIS does everything from investigations to prosecution and even court judgements delivery,” he said.

Moreover, Tshukudu expressed that because of the DIS and its big brother mentality, for the first time in history, Botswana’s judiciary is in disarray. All these are the footprints of the DIS, he asserted.

On other matters, Tshukudu said the purchase of Tautona Lodge by government was a costly and unnecessary adventure.

“We are told there is a lodge that was bought through public funds which cost millions.Where is the Permanent Secretary to the President (PSP), the Attorney General (AG), and the Minister Of State President who should have advised that the purchasing of the lodge was too costly and unnecessary?” Tshukudu further asked.

“Why was it so urgent to buy the lodge? Since we bought the lodge, what has been done with it and how will it benefit Batswana? When you look at all of these things you realise it was the advice of the DIS,” Tshukufu stated.

The union leader also called for the intelligence DIS to be disbanded. “Everything they do costs government. As BOFEPUSU we say the DIS should be disbanded, because all it does it is to destroy Botswana,” he said.

Tshukudu said the infamous Butterfly case which led to the country black-listing of the country was yet another DIS blunder.

“We now know that the person accused for the alleged siphoned P100 billion has been reinstated to work, some of her charges have been dropped. What does this mean? Who is accounting to Batswana, No one,” Tshukudu said.

Another example given by the federation president on the chaotic state of affairs relates to the suspension of the substantive Police Commissioner, Keabetswe Makgophe. BOFEPUSU believes that Makgophe’s suspension leaves one with more questions than answers. All these, BOFEPUSU says smells of the DIS meddlesome hand.

“As a leader why do we continue to support the DIS. How can we trust Masisi, when most of his promises are unfulfilled,” Tshukudu said.
