During his last mention Matsime had pleaded with Magistrate Goratile Moremi-Ramakoloi to give him the court papers in order to process an appeal before the High Court. Matsime wanted to appeal following the Magistrate court's decision to deny him bail.

Surprisingly yesterday when Magistrate Moremi-Ramakoloi asked Matsime if he had gone ahead with writing to the High Court, Matsime shocked the court when he said he can’t write. “I have not written to the High Court yet and I have not written to the court because I literally know nothing about writing, I can’t even write,” Matsime said before court.

Magistrate Moremi-Ramakoloi who was shocked by Matsime’s statement and ask if he was being serious. Moremi-Ramakoloi further asked Matsime if he had not sought for any help from the prison officials to be assisted with writing to High Court.

Matsime responded by revealig that he really cannot write, and has not considered asking for help at prison because his assumption is that his pleas will be in vain. Meanwhile prosecutor Sergeant Mmoloki Selofora asked the court to further remand Matsime as they are still doing investigations, awaiting the post-mortem results and photo compilation. Matsime is set to appear for his next mention at Broadhurst Magistrate Court on March 13, 2023 and he was further remanded in prison.
