Confirming investigation into the fatal accident, No 2 district officer commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said the accident occurred at around 3:30pm.

“The BMW was driven by the 31-year-old man who together with a frontal passenger, a 30-year-old woman, lost their lives on the spot. The 55-year-old driver of a Nissan escaped the accident with minor injuries as he was only complaining of chest pains. The BMW car had five occupants including the driver and another three passengers who escaped with injuries,” he said.

Oketsang said the Nissan was heading south from north and the BMW car was from Selebi-Phikwe heading toward Palapye when the accident happened. He stated that the driver of the BMW allegedly lost control of the car resulting in a head-on collision. “One of the surviving BMW passengers sustained serious injuries and is still hospitalised at Palapye hospital while the other two sustained minor injuries and were treated and released the same day.

A 49-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Nissan car sustained a fractured arm and is still hospitalised too,” he added. Meanwhile, Oketsang further revealed they are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred the same day in Palamaokuwe ward, Serule.

In this incident, he said a 32-year-old woman lost control of a Nissan Almera which overturned and left her with a fractured right hand. Oketsang said the woman was heading south when the accident occurred adding she was currently hospitalised at Palapye hospital.
