Kaybee returns with Shoni Ruvuke

The album, which was dropped last month, has six tracks, namely, Best Thing, Masa a sele, Shoni Ruvuke, Sing Praises, Tswelela as well as Yowe Vene.
Her last project was in 2018 titled Ruhakitho, which translates to ‘love’. “The last time I recorded was in 2018 when I released my last then album titled Ruhakitho. Shoni Ruvuke is a song derived from a hymn called ‘When I remember what the Lord has done’. I’m excited to finally release an album or an EP after such years of just sitting back, reflecting, growing and developing yourself as an individual,” said Kaybee.
Her latest offering is a modern sub-genre of gospel music called contemporary gospel, which is often described as a blend of the classic gospel sound with Euro classical and jazz ingredients.
As a contemporary gospel singer, Kaybee reflects her versatility and ability to tap into different sounds while maintaining the ‘good word’. It is an album that caters for all. Gospel music lovers who enjoy dancing will enjoy songs such as Masa a sele, which has a bit of the piano sound. The song has a lovely beat and the fusion of the gospel word makes for a good listening. “Gospel is about the good news, the message that is carried in the song. It comes in different styles. This one is contemporary.
Inside the Amapiano is the good news, it’s a dawn, Masa a sele, let’s celebrate the new season, new beginning, so yes, there is a message within, there is the gospel within Amapiano,” she explained.
The talented singer said despite being in the music wilderness for four years, she received recognition for her last album as she won two awards. “Between 2018 and 2023 I won two awards. I won the Best Gospel Female Artist (Botswana Gospel Music Awards 2019) and Best Single for Ruhakhito during the Annual Gospel Awards. I was also a nominee at the Kavango Awards in Namibia,” she said.
