Housebreaking, theft upset Serowe police applecart

Serowe’s assistant police station commander, Assistant Superintendent Bophelo Ntatiwa said despite their efforts to contain the situation, the crime rate in the area has taken a disturbing turn. “From January to date we have recorded 19 cases of housebreaking and theft and eight cases of burglary and theft. We are currently investigating a case in which a house was broken into at Semane ward and property valued over P12,000 stolen on Friday,” Ntatiwa said.
“Criminals broke into an unoccupied house and stole a bed, couch, and fridge. The matter was reported by a neighbour who discovered the house was broken into in the morning and alerted the owner of the house who is currently based in Gaborone.” Ntatiwa added Semane ward is currently one of the most targeted areas in Serowe as it has new plots in which criminals look for valuables like electronic gadgets.
