Court grants Kopong murder accused bail

Magistrate Segomotso Phetogo who is holding the fort for her colleague Jobbie Moilatshimo who is out on sick off read out a ruling that the second and third accused deserve to be granted bail as there has been a change in circumstances in the case.
“On November 27 2022 the accused persons were denied bail because a six- year-old witness' statement was not recorded but now the statement has been recorded and recording of the statement marks a great change,” Phetogo stated. The Magistrate further added that the two accused do not pose any threat of being flight risk and also reiterated that having a passport is not reason enough that one can be a flight risk once given bail.
Phetogo granted Kosie and Aston bail on conditions that the accused should each pay P5 000 as bail money. Both accused persons shall report at Mogoditshane police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) station and also at the same time submit their traveling documents before the officers. One last condition for the accused persons is that they are not allowed to interact with the State witnesses. And if Outlwile wants to get in touch with his children, he can do so by getting consent from the legal guardian.
The accused were however, further remanded in prison until February 27 when they will appear for their next mention before Broadhurst Magistrate court and Moilatshimo will be expected to take back the case.
