Government early this week announced that Mogae had been hospitilised in South Africa but assured the nation that the former president was not in any serious danger.

The latest statement also says President Mokgweetsi Masisi had sent a delegation of elders to check on Mogae to "appreciate the status of his health condition."

"Accordingly, Ministers Kabo Morwaeng and Kgotla Autlwetse, accompanied by two elders, Daniel Kwelagobe and Charles Tibone, together with Dr Tshepo Machacha from the Ministry of Health, paid a visit to the former President around noon time today. The family is very thankful of this gesture.The public is hereby informed that the team has reported that the former President is doing well and recovering. Whereas he is still in hospital, he is in high spirits. Meanwhile, Mogae also thanks Batswana for their continued prayers," the statement reads in part.
