The impressive performance by the Botswana bodes well for their chances of qualifying for the next round of the qualifiers to be held in Europe later this year. Meanwhile, the Botswana Softball Association president, Katlholo Mosimanegape is impressed with the way the four-nation tournament has progressed. “So far so good, at first I thought we have not done enough to prepare but to other stakeholders such as a the Botswana National Sport Commission, National Olympic Committee, WBSC Africa representatives they are fascinated with what they see. We were criticizing ourselves but the visitors are happy. I think we have outclassed South Africa who have been hosting this tournament before,” he said.

Mosimanegape said the rain affected the games schedule on Wednesday morning. He said they managed to find a cover for the infield which was slippery but it was not much of a challenge for the outfield because it has grass. He said despite the rains, the games were played as scheduled. Mosimanegape said he was impressed by the performance of the Botswana team and it is an indication that they have been working hard during the training camp.

President for Ghana Softball Baseball Federation, Ernest Danso said he is Gaborone to watch and support Mosimanegape, who is his counterpart in the WBSC Africa board. “Botswana and South Africa are doing well in softball that is something we want to tap in and see how we can make it work in Ghana and the rest of West Africa. In our region, baseball is more common than softball after it was introduced by the Japanese. You find that the youth that side is more exposed to baseball than softball,” Danso said.
