Dube, an undocumented, is accused of raping a woman on February 4 in Dibongwane Lands near Tonota.

He also has a case to answer for entering Botswana illegally. In both matters, he has reserved his plea.

Inspector Fanilo Manyapedza applied for Dube to be remanded in custody because he does not have a permanent place of residence in Botswana and documents authorising him to stay legally in the country. Asked if he had anything to say, Dube said that he and the complainant had an agreement and he was her P100 john.

“I don’t know why I am here because I paid the complainant P100 to have sex with her. She even confessed that at Tonota Police Station. The sexual act with the complainant was consensual. I don’t know why I am here because the sexual act was consensual,” Dube told the court.

After Dube made his submissions, Magistrate Game Mooketsi told Manyapedza to investigate the veracity of Dube's claim that he paid P100 to have sex with the complainant. Dube will appear in court on February 28 for a status update.
