Traditional music lovers get a treat

As a way of welcoming their members back from the festive season, Lerankana Social Club, a club house consisting of many different local traditional dance and song artists and dancers, hosted a Back to School event where members came dressed in different uniform styles.

Even though many conformed to the theme by rocking in school uniforms, revellers dressed to kill and a number of ladies added up a few changes to spice up their looks.

Some wore pleated and check skied, long socks, shirts, blazers and complemented their attires with pony tails or two puffs to complement the high school looks. They looked absolutely gorgeous.

The event started during the day with a meeting with the organisers deciding to delay the performances until midnight when different traditional dance groups entertained. Amongst the beautiful performances was that of Morweetsana, Segalaupa, Lentswetshipi, KG BW and Kgwale Group. Even though they were not on the line-up, Skelem Key duo was given a slot to showcase at the event but disappointed their fans as they left the stage after just a few minutes as they complained of poor sound system.

The event gave a number of unknown groups a platform for the necessary exposure. While many of them showed serious potential, it is evident that there is still a lot that needs to be done to groom them into being professionals.
