The 12-track album titled Chika was dropped last November. C-Ru told Showtime Monitor that the album is mostly a compilation of his singles with songs such as Knock Harder, Kwalekwa and NgwanaOoo which was released as a build up to this project.

“Chika is the title of the album, and it says ‘emelela ba go bone’ which clearly means stand up and shine, your Season is just about now. I did give it a wedding vibe to show lots of positive energy and celebrate my milestone in this industry as you are all aware it isn’t easy at all,” he said.

“And again I did dedicate the album to my wife to appreciate her for being with me for the past 10 years. She supported me through thick and thin. ‘O tlhatswitse pelo yaaka, a kenya lorato gare ga pelo yaaka.

And I love her so much for that’.” In order to come up with a solid album, C-Ru says he decided to work with different artists and producers. “I have worked with a few local and international artists and producers such as HT, Apollo D, DRAK, Q-Rap, DRAK, Magilo, Emjo Records,Regalia Records, DJ Zaca from South Africa, Ruby Gold(SA) and one other producer by the Name LA Josh also from South Africa,” he added.

The title track, Chika was produced in South Africa by DJ Zaca while track 2, Kwalekwa was produced at Emjo Records. Other songs include Lephoi, Knock Harder ft Magilo,Q-Rap,Drak,HT Tautona & Apollo D, Promise Ft HT Tautona, DR Gure feat Q-Rap, Hope ft Ruby Gold, Soft soo, NgwanaOoo, Let Dem Talk ft King Zee and My People ft Kago Gouvea, Touch Motswak Tswak & Euri.

The album was produced at three different studios which are Regalia Records, EmJo Records and Dope Nation. With more than 10 singles under his name and an EP called Masa, C-Ru said he felt it was time he did an album that will reflect his growth in the tough music industry. He said the album has done quite well especially during the festive season and has featured on RB2’s Top 40. “Remember December is mostly about music shows, so it’s been doing well. We have given it a period of six months to monitor the progress and see what needs to be done. This weekend I’ll be launching it. It will be my 40th anniversary so the show will be held at Lethakane.

The show will feature most of the guys I worked with in the album,” he said.
