The shocking incident took place just less than 24 hours after Marcus Tshabang was buried. The five-year-old Tshabang disappeared on January 6 and was found dead five days later.

Tshabang’s body was found floating in a river at Tjiripa cattle post and the police cleared rumours that the boy was killed for ritual purposes.

The same rumours deepened following the disappearance of the three-year-old girl who went missing on January 14. The girl was reported to have been missing after she left home with three of her siblings and two friends to look for wild berries.

It was alleged that the parents had been sleeping at the time. According to No.15 District Officer Commanding, Kabo Badirwang there are no developments since the young girl went missing.

He said their search team together with Tutume community are still on the ground looking for the little girl. He said today (Monday) he would be meeting with community leaders such as the village chief, headman and district commissioner to discuss the matter and way forward.

Badirwang further urged people to stop misleading the community at large about issues of ritual killings relating them to cases of missing children. He encouraged them to report any suspicions to the police than circulating baseless rumours which cause panic amongst villagers.
