When confirming the incident, Letlhakane police station commander, Michael Maphephu said they are still searching for three men who allegedly gang raped a woman last Friday.

He said the suspects allegedly attacked the woman at around 4am and dragged her to the nearest bush whilst she was walking alone from Makgabana club. “When the woman was walking and crossing a local play ground not far from the club she was allegedly attacked and three men took advantage of her,” said the station commander.

“The victim reported that there were four men at the time, but the other one was against the idea and didn’t want to be part of the wrongful act but chose to walk away.” He said the victim could not identify the suspects who are still at large.

Maphephu urged women to avoid walking alone at night or early in the morning to avoid such incidents. He shared that in most cases women, more especially those staying in Phase1 location, were targeted by the perpetrators when crossing the play ground from the night club. Maphephu added that most cases reported In Phase 1 location happen near the same play ground.

He emphasised that even though the ground is open it is not safe more especially at night. Investigations are still ongoing and anyone with information or witnessed the crime is advised to contact the police.
