The Orange FA Cup sponsorship deal has risen from P12.6 million to P15.3 million, the telecommunications company announced.

The two parties initially penned a three-year deal in 2019. Speaking at the Orange FA Cup Season 4 launch yesterday, Orange Botswana chief finance officer and acting CEO, Bishy Butale said the renewal of the sponsorship is a reaffirmation of the company’s decision in the development of sports locally. “The renewal of this sponsorship agreement with the BFA reaffirms our dedication fostering the development, growth and promotion of the local game as well as upliftment of local communities.

The collaboration with BFA makes a difference to thousands of people directly and indirectly,” Butale said. “Building from the success of the last contract and our history of partnering football, we are delighted to announce an investment increase of 17% to P15.4m over three years which equates to just over P5.1m a season.” For his part, BFA president, Maclean Letshwiti lauded Orange Botswana for showing confidence in the development of football in the country. Letshwiti said it is a bold move by the company to stick to football as the game recovers from the complications brought by the outbreak of COVID-19. “At the BFA we view this as a great vote of confidence in our football development efforts.

Thank you Orange for sticking with us for another three years. We applaud you because we are alive to all the challenges you face as a business. We understand the gravity of COVID-19 economic effects on the world economy,” he said. Meanwhile at the launch, the draw of the last 48 round was held and brought interesting fixtures.
