Dambe staying put at Rollers

Even though he is the more experienced goalkeeper in the Rollers’ camp, Dambe has seen playing minutes hard to come by.
Instead, Kabelo Maphakela has been enjoying game time in between the Rollers’ posts while off-season signing, Bophelo Kealeboga has deputised him. On the other hand, Dambe has amassed just two appearances this campaign.
The 32-year-old’s absence from the match day squads led to reports linking him with a move away from the club. Reports were that the former Zebras’ shot stopper was nearing a move to Debswana First Division South League side, CrackiT City Polar. Contacted for comment, Rollers’ public relations officer, Bafana Pheto briefly said the player is nursing an injury and will remain a Rollers’ player until his contract runs out.
“He has been injured, he has a niggling injury that has kept him out. But he is our player; as per the goalkeeping coach’s judgement he is behind the other guys in terms of fitness and form.
This is why most of our games it is Maphakela on the starting list and Bophelo on the bench,” Pheto said. Quizzed about Dambe’s appearance at their games, City Polar director, Moemedi Senwelo said the player was a guest of one their sponsors. “No, we have not signed Dambe. They are from the same village,” Senwelo said. Dambe could remain on the side-line as Rollers continue to search for their first win under new coach, Sergio Traguil. Popa face Eleven Angels at the Francistown Stadium at 4pm tomorrow. Tomorrow, Nico United welcome second-placed Jwaneng Galaxy at the Sam Sono Stadium.
Masitaoka travel to the Serowe Sports Complex to take on Morupule Wanderers while Prisons XI take on struggling Extension Gunners at the Molepolole Sports Complex. Leaders, Gaborone United will be away to Sua Flamingoes at the Sowa Town Council Stadium with Security Systems and Mogoditshane Fighters facing off at the Lobatse Sports Complex.
On Sunday afternoon, Holy Ghost and BDF XI will battle for maximum points at the Molepolole Sports Complex while Orapa United welcome Police XI at the Itekeng Stadium. The games kick off at 4pm except for televised games which start at 3.30pm.
