Modirelabangwe faces a single count of wife murder, Dorothy Sebolai Modirelabangwe on January 13 at Glen Valley BDF camp.

Representing state prosecution, Sub-inspector Kenneth Ramere told the court that the deceased was recently buried and investigations into the matter are still ongoing hence pleading with court to extend the accused person’s remand.

“I am pleading for the accused person’s further remand because investigations into the matter are not yet complete as we have not completed recording statements from possible witnesses,” Ramere said. For his part, accused person’s attorney, Lesley Malema opposed state prosecution’s application for his client’s further remand stating not to be satisfied with Ramere’s reasons.

“I am not satisfied with state prosecutions’ statement of believing that my client is likely to interfere with their investigations, how could he interfere with something that he doesn’t know. It is their job to investigate and charge but that should not obstruct my client’s liberty because such statements could lead to other statements and what will happen, will they still further remand my client in custody?” Malema questioned.

Malema also pleaded with court to grant his client bail because he does not have anything to do with investigation of the matter by the police. However, the court further remanded Modirelabangwe.

He will appear before court on February 13, 2023.
