Long serving Ghanzi councillor dies at 51

“His passing is a heavy blow to the Party owing to his character and calibre as a humble member of the party and servant of his constituents whom they had entrusted with representation for 27 years to date. He was introduced to politics at a young age. At the same time, a driver and was almost instantly nominated by the BDP at the age of 25 years to contest a bye-election for the Grootlaagte Council Ward after the death of then Councilor, Uatuva Mokgatlanyane which he ultimately won and had since successfully defended it in subsequent primary and national elections from 1999 to 2019,” Kario said today.

He said as a young councillor, Kajuu joined the BDP Youth Wing and rose through its ranks to become a member of the National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC) in the year 2000 under the leadership of the late Gomolemo Motswaledi as Chairman and himself current Secretary General of the BDP Kario as vice chairman. In addition, Kario said the late Kajuu also served as a member of the Political Education and Elections Committee (PEEC). Additionally , he revealed that in Kajuu's extensive political tenure as a councillor, he served within various committees of the Council, including leading the council as Chairperson of the Ghanzi District Council between 2003-2004.

Kario continued; “he was at the time of his demise the Deputy Chairperson of the Ghanzi District Council since 2019 and an ex-officio member of various Council Committees. The BDP sends its heartfelt and sincere condolences to Kajuu’s family, colleagues, close friends, his colleagues at the Party and the people of Grootlaagte. In this particular son of the soil, we have all an irreplaceable servant whom we will miss dearly for a very long time,” said Kario. Kajuu was born on December 15, 1971 in the Ghanzi District. His parents resided in the Ghanzi and Makunda areas.
