When confirming the incident ,Letlhakane police station commander Superintendent Michael Maphephu said that they have arrested a man who is an employee of the Debswana mine for allegedly hitting a 64-year-old woman to death.

He said that the incident took place on Monday in the morning along a bridge near Boteti Brigade Centre in Letlhakane village.

The police boss indicated that the deceased person died whilst she was on her daily routine of collecting used beverage cans. He indicated that the suspect was driving a Honda Fit and they are yet to get full details of what happened.

“The eyewitness reported to the paramedics and the police after the horrific incident. Paramedics who arrived a few minutes at the spot found the woman motionless. She would later be certified dead at the scene by the paramedics,” he added.

He said that the body of the deceased person was taken to Letlhakane Primary Hospital.The 50-year-old suspect is still in police custody and investigations in this matter are still on.
