"We have some suspects in custody regarding the issue, but it seems like it's a syndicate, we have realised that they are some who spot these cattle, some use horses, then there are those who slaughter and those who transport them to the final destination," he said.

Mafoko said they have deployed a team on the ground to arrest all those who are responsible.

He further urged farmers to keep their cattle within the permitted areas and keep them on guard pointing out that there have several road accidents along the A2 road caused by stray cattle.

" I want to remind them that it is an offense that is punishable by the law to do so," he said.
