Some MPs that The Monitor interviewed revealed they will be joining constituents at football tournaments and dikhwaere in their different constituencies.

Liakiat Kablay, Letlhakeng-Lephephe MP

I will be hosting some of the dikhwaere at our lands in Magatase. Usually, I do slaughter a cow, goats, and chickens for my constituents.

At Magatase lands we have two dikhwaere that usually compete as residents of that masimo. Residents of that area are the ones who sponsor those dikhwaere.

On December 26, the nearest masimo brings theirs which has won to come and compete with the one which has won from ours. “Christmas ke tsatsi le nna le balelwapa lame re le dirisang go nna le batlhophi le go ja dijo le bone,” Kablay said.

Taolo Lucas, Bobonong MP “This is one of the exciting days where we spend time with the constituents and mingle with people I grew up with. At Bobonong village, on Christmas Day we spend time at dikhwaering and football tournaments. We have more than 40 choirs (dikhwaere) that compete during the day. Those competitions do take two to three days to perform. Again we have football tournaments that attract a lot of people. I use the day to spend it with my constituents,” Lucas said.

Simon Moabi, Tati West MP In the Tati West constituency, people believe in football tournaments. “I will be going to different villages in my constituency to check their tournaments. Our area is famous for football.

These football tournaments bring us together as residents. Again, I will be giving out the disadvantaged children Christmas clothes so that they do look better like any other children,” Moabi said.

Mephato Reatile, Jwaneng-Mabutsane MP As for Reatile, it is time to give herdboys (badisa) some off days so that they go and spend festive holidays with their families. “I will be at Masokwane cattle post and the residents of that area. During Christmas, the residents of that area do spend the day at horse race competitions.

This is the only entertainment we have at the cattle post,” he said.

Yandani Boko, Mahalapye East MP "I have been invited to participate in some football tournaments in my constituency. So I will be in Mahalapye East. Further, I intend to tour the constituency to interact with the constituents. My wife will be accompanying me in those meet-and-greet sessions. As for Christmas lunch, I hope to have lunch but I have no idea what my wife has planned. I don't mind 'go galela' in any household in my constituency. That will be great. We will also visit the cattle post," he said.
