Victorious BOTESSA Football women's team gets P50k

The team had travelled to Mpumalanga to participate in a football tournament dubbed ‘University Sport South Africa (USSA) Championship tournament. It constituted of only players that study at tertiary level.

The team put up a good show at the tournament winning all the matches convincingly. In the grand finale, it was up against VUT and for a game that one may have perceived as one toughest stages on the tournaments, it did not seem so for the BOTESSA team which went on to win 4-1.

As if winning the tournament alone as a team was not enough, Bame Mokime and Rethabile Segobye went on to win goalkeeper and player of the tournament respectively. Boga Masebu, who is the FNBB director of marketing and communications, revealed that the bank has been supporting BOTESSA since 2018 and is pleased with its growth. “I am honoured to announce that FNBB recently renewed the BOTESSA sponsorship for another two years from the year 2022 till 2024 to the value of P2 million,” Masebu said.

In addition, Masebu added that FNBB is proud to be welcoming back the team back home after coming out as champions from the USSA tournament at Mpumalanga. “On top of the P50,000 prize money, player of the tournament, and goalkeeper of the tournament will each receive an amount P5 000 respectively,” she added. On behalf of the team, captain Kenanao Nyambe said they appreciate the support from FNBB.
