Two pedestrians injured in separate accidents

In an accident that occurred on Saturday afternoon in Sikwane village during a wedding ceremony, a 52-year-old man was hit by a reversing car driven by a 42-year-old woman he was directing and sustained a fractured left leg.

In another accident that occurred at around 10pm, another man was hit by a car while trying to cross the road near Engen Filling Station along Tlokweng-Zeerust Road. Investigating the accidents, deputy divisional traffic officer for South Central, Senior Superintendent Boiki Mojalemotho said both pedestrians are still hospitalised.

“The second pedestrian sustained serious head injuries and he is currently fighting for his life at Princess Marina Hospital. He is seriously injured and can’t speak, we are also yet to establish his age and what really transpired when he regains consciousness.

He was hit by a 53-year-old man who was driving a Toyota Corolla,” he said.
