The trio is said to have ganged up on the deceased. Letlhakane Police Station commander, Superintendent Michael Maphephu told Mmegi Online that they are investigating the murder case which took place on Saturday. He said that the deceased was hit with a blunt object and stabbed with a sharp instrument on Saturday at Metsiaela ward. “The deceased person was attacked by three men on Saturday and later died at Bokamoso hospital on Sunday,” he added.

Explaining what transpired, he said that the deceased had a misunderstanding with one of the gang members at one of the local bars last Friday. “The heated argument then led to a fight between the duo and then the deceased person defeated one of the suspects,” he added.

Maphephu further said that on Saturday the defeated man then ganged up with his two other friends and they decided to beat up the man to death. He stated that the suspects are aged between 21 and 23 years and are currently in police custody. “Two of the suspects are from Matshumo village and the other one is from Letlhakane village whereas the deceased person is from Mmea village,” Maphephu further revealed.

The suspects will appear before Letlhakane Magistrate's Court tomorrow (Thursday). Meanwhile, Maphephu said that they are troubled by house-breaking incidents that take place in Tawana, Extension, Letsibogo, and Phase 1 wards. He, therefore, urged the public to always have someone watch their homes.
