The school that prides itself on commitment and dedication to providing quality education to students came about the initiative as a way to recognise the contribution of parents and families to the success and performance of the institution.
‘We are thankful to all our parents for allowing us to be a part of the students’ journey to a successful future. As seen over the years, our school always performs exceptionally well on both the Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) and International General Certificate Secondary Education (IGCSE) results and we couldn’t have done it without the support of our wonderful parents,” GIS executive head, Gerald Hilton highlighted.
He added: “We know and trust that our parents will continue to work hand in hand with our qualified teachers to ensure Academic Excellence for our students.”
High School principal, Mercy Pickup explained that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they had not been able to appreciate parents and students through events such as these. She expressed hope that parents would realise that all their efforts in supporting the school especially under the harsh economic conditions did not go unnoticed.
Pickup also pointed out that the parent appreciation morning event is the first of its kind.
‘The token of appreciation (coffee and muffin treat) is a gesture to say GIS cares and knows that parents at times do not have a chance to make breakfast as they do the school run,” she said.
The parents were all smiles as they were each awarded a cup of quality coffee and muffin as they dropped off their children on their way to work.
“It’s a kind gesture that the school has done for us and we feel honoured as parents to the GIS students. It makes me personally happy that my child goes to a school that recognises and values the importance of teamwork between parents and teachers when it comes to anything student-related,” one parent warmly expressed.
