Soldier in police custody for pedestrian's death

Tonota Police Station commander, Oteng Ngada confirmed that they are investigating a fatal accident that occurred in the village. The incident took place on Friday night along the A1 Highway.

According to Ngada, the soldier was driving a Toyota RunX that hit the pedestrian who was crossing the road from the western side to the east end. He said the pedestrian, a 35-year-old man from Tonota, was certified dead upon arrival at a local clinic.

“The driver is still in police custody helping the police with the investigations. At this stage we cannot say that the driver was drunk or overspeeding at the time of the accident as investigations are still fresh,” added the station commander.
