Matsetse-Mpete is also a public speaker who holds motivational talks in schools, women prisons and women empowerment seminars. She explained that Women Achievers Awards was a platform that recognises, honours and celebrates women evolving and becoming. The awards are an inspiration and empowering space for women from all walks of life. “A woman achiever is a woman who is the embodiment of every dream dreamt, a woman who has achieved success in her career path and has demonstrated commitment to the success of other women and girls,” she said.

“The objectives of these awards are to establish a platform where Women Excellence is recognised and celebrated, to provide a networking platform for women and girls and to establish a mentorship hub for the upcoming. All honourees will become mentors to upcoming women and girls in their specific field of expertise.” Matsetse-Mpete further explained that the public carried out nominations. Speaking of People’s Choice Award, she said nominations would be sent electronically during the event by attendees and the honourees announced at the end of the programme. She added that they had a panel of judges that evaluates all nominees for their awards categories with emphasis on women making a difference in the community and excelling in their respective fields of endeavour. She emphasised that their selection process was premised on transparency and accountability.

The awards categories are as follows; Innovator for a woman leader committed to paving a way for other women including the disabled and LGBTQ+, Humanitarian Champion for a woman advocating for change, making a difference in the communities by providing services that benefit both women and a girl child, corporate woman champion for a woman successful in her own career path and paving a way for other women through initiating and implementing programmes that uplift other women and girls. Other awards include Stem Champion Healthcare Champion, The Mentor, and Entrepreneur of the year, Sports Woman/Women of the Year, Media Personality of the year, Standard Bearer/The Activist, Rising Star and Legacy Award. Matsetse-Mpete is a woman who wears many hats. Her involvement in uplifting fellow women and girls has not go unnoticed. She is fully involved in the development of the society and has pioneered programmes that contribute to the advancement of Botswana and Africa at large. Matsetse-Mpete stated that she annually hosts women empowerment conference to motivate, encourage, empower and celebrate women. She said she founded and sponsors best female achiever award (PSLE) that rotates across all districts in Botswana to celebrate a girl child’s academic achievements.

She also founded and hosts international children’s conference in line with the United Nations Universal Children’s day with the aim to empower children to work hard in their studies to nature their skills and talents positioned to make positive contribution in advancing Africa and the world. Each Women’s month she says she hosts and sponsors a women football tournament in the marginalised parts of Botswana like Kgalagadi to encourage hopeless girls and women in those areas.

Matsetse-Mpete is also the founder of a girl child writing competition that awards the winner annually on International Day of a Girl child. She recently founded Women Achievers Awards Botswana, a platform that recognises and celebrates women excellence. She is the managing director of Bonton Botswana (Pty Ltd (a multi-faceted company she founded in 2013). She is also a legal consultant currently pursuing her LLM, Masters degree in Law from Cumbria University UK.
