Unity of Gospel Artists show to give local artists lifeline

Unity of Gospel Artists Company promotes artists from different countries in Southern Africa such as Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and South African. According to the founder, Dr Morake Makhudu, the event will be organised by some of their members who are businessmen and women in Unity of Gospel Artists called U.G.A Baipereki Lefatsheng.
Makhudu further explained that they will inspire and empower the businessmen and women in Botswana and also to donate to those who were coming from disadvantaged families. He added that their biggest dream was to help those who want to start small business enterprises. Makhudu also said he was inspired to host the event in Botswana because Batswana has been fully supporting them since 2005. Moreover, he said the event would benefit entrepreneurs who are registered with his organisation to start small businesses by lending them money, which they would then pay back without interest in an effort to eradicate poverty and employment. As for artists who are not part of U.G.A, he urged them to sign their membership form to register with SAMRO, SAMPRA, IMPRA, CAPPASO, COSBOTS and RISA so that they could enjoy their royalties.
He added that they would help them get gigs so that they could be paid. He added that they will help them to get airplays, television, radio and newspaper interviews get exposure from different countries. “As Unity of Gospel Artists, we acknowledge them by giving them support in business since we have realised that they love and support us. Artists who will be performing at the event include the likes of Agnes Ntsweja Kgosi, Barati, Felicia Mooketsa, Malebogo Sampisi and Lebza Praise and Worship both from Botswana. International artists from both South African and Zimbabwe include Andries Lekganyane, Sesi Berry, Bafana Ba Molamodi, Benjamin Moopelwa and Minister Average Changundega,” he said. He stated that their target was to help those who are unemployment and artists who want to go far in music. Speaking about challenges, he said artists from every country wanted to be on their poster and be part of the event so they end up having a long line-up.
He, however, said since it is their mission and vision to unite gospel artists worldwide, they never rejected them. He added that the other biggest challenge they faced was as a non-profit company, they relied on donations, sponsorships, businessmen and women. On other issues, he explained that yearly, they will be rotating the event around different countries and therefore will surely come back to Botswana to host bigger events and probably reach their dream to fill up the stadiums in the country. He added that security will be very tight adding that they will invite Botswana Police Service and the emergency unit in case of an emergency. He said they would also have their own security to monitor the access control and entry so that their supporters, fans and artists are safe. Moreover, Makhudu said alcohol will not be allowed because people misbehave after drinking and it was not conducive for a gospel show. Tickets are available in Botswana at their sales agents in Botswana.
They are sold at P150 VIP, Standard for P100 and children’s tickets at P50.
