Thabang Ofitlhile’s strike was enough to hand former Premier League giants maximum points at the Holy Ghost Park. Toronto, as Notwane are affectionately called by their supporters, have now collected six points from their first two matches.

They kicked off their campaign against Black Rangers and registered a convincing 3-1 win a fortnight ago. They have now leapfrogged Mochudi Centre Chiefs from the top of the log standings.

Chiefs were scheduled to play URI Black Forest on Saturday afternoon at Skanska River Plate ground but the match was postponed because of the waterlogged pitch following heavy rains on Friday and Saturday. Both Notwane and Chiefs are expected to battle for the top spot in the next few fixtures before their much-anticipated clash scheduled for next month. Meanwhile, Debswana Young Stars bounced back from their defeat to Black Forest a fortnight ago to register a 2-0 win over Black Rangers on Saturday.

Stars joined the second tier league this season after buying Young Strikers’ status. Rangers have now lost their first two matches in the league and are now languishing at the bottom of the table.

Tlokweng United played to a 0-0 draw against CRACKiT City Polar. VTM played to a 2-2 draw against Matebele FC. In the north, new comers, Mbalakalungu remained seated at the top of the log after playing to a 1-1 against Sankoyo Bush Bucks.

They have so far collected four points from two matches. TAFIC played to a 1-1 draw against Santa Green. MR Highlanders and Motlakase Power Dynamos played to a 1-1 draw while the match between Chadibe FC and Peace Makers ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
