WUC worker suffocates under Spaghetti fly over

Kutlwano Police station commander Neo Serumola confirmed that the WUC male employee is suspected to have died whilst maintaining the manhole for a drainage system.

Serumola dismissed as untrue reports that the deceased man lost his life after falling into a drain at the fly over.

As a matter of fact , Serumola said they received a report yesterday morning about a male WUC worker who died when cleaning the drainage system under the fly over connected to Thapama interchange opposite fire department offices.

According to the Kutlwano police chief, it is alleged that the WUC cleaner entered the manhole system under the flyover to maintain it.

It was also reported that the same WUC worker started complaining of a foul-smelling odour coming from the drainage system, he added.

Serumola stated that the deceased person complained that the stinky smell was suffocating him and he could not breathe underneath the manhole for the drainage system.

Serumola indicated that the deceased's colleagues removed him from the manhole and found that he was unconscious. The unconscious employee was taken to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) where he was certified dead. Investigations into the matter are on-going.
