The officer, 42-year-old Johane Kgwaakgwaa, appeared before the court last week. According to his charge sheet, “The accused person Johane Kgwaakgwaa, between the months of July and August 2020, specific dates unknown to the prosecution, at or near house No P48, Peeling Police Camp, in the southern administrative district of the Republic of Botswana, unlawfully had carnal knowledge of victim (names known to this publication) without her consent.” Appearing briefly before the court, the police officer pleaded not guilty to the offence after his charge sheet was read out to him. The victim, who was 15 years old at the time, is the daughter of the accused’s colleague, The Monitor has established.

he police officer was granted P1,500 cash bail and will appear for his next mention on November 16.
