Magosi had to come back twice and scored three more goals to secure maximum points in their opening Debswana First Division South league match played at the Gabane United ground.

Tebele, who was recently roped back into the side after the team returned to the society, also said it is going to be a tough season. “We are going to be prepared for any team that comes up against us.

Especially after this game, I know they are going to make sure that when they face us, they will come very prepared,” he said. Tebele said his charges applied themselves well against the home team.

He also mentioned that the plan was to start on a slow pace and pick up in the second half, which worked well against them. Meanwhile, Santos coach, Tiroyamodimo “TRX” Mohambi on the other hand was disappointed with some of the decisions by the match officials and felt that they cost his side on the day. “I was very disappointed by the refereeing.

We could have matched Chiefs. We went into halftime leading 2-1. From there we witnessed horrible refereeing. I do not think the three goals that they scored in the second half should have stood,” he said. Mohambi, however, said that should motivate them to work even hard going forward. Chiefs’ goal in the first half came from left winger, Galagwe Moyana while Arnold Mampori and Modise Sifo scored for Santos.

In the second half, Chiefs introduced several attacking options including two-goal hero, Thabiso Tebatso who came in the second half for Moyana. Chiefs levelled the scores just one minute into the second half through Koketso Mokgatitswane from a free kick on the edge of the box. Tebatso then gave Chiefs the lead with a well-taken goal.

In the middle of the second half, Santos goalkeeper made a terrible mistake, failing to handle what should have an easy ball and Boemo Lekorwe capitalised on the rebound to increase Magosi’s lead.

Tebatso grabbed his second goal of the match towards the end of the second half after catching Santos’ defence napping again. He found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, applied his composure and slotted into an empty net.

In Tsabong, Notwane came from behind to beat Black Rangers 3-1 while CRACKiT City Polar defeated VTM 2-1. Matebele thrashed Broadhurst United 4-1 while Black Forest defeated Debswana Young Stars 3-2. Matebejana and Tlokweng United played to a 1-1 draw.
