TWO VICTORIES OUT OF TWO MATCHES: Gaborone United (in red) kept another clean sheet against Holy Ghost and bagged another three points PIC: MORERI SEJAKGOMO

Both sides came into the match oozing confidence with GU having defeated BDF XI 2-0 while Holy Ghost came from behind to draw 2-2 against Jwaneng Galaxy.

From the first whistle, GU took the game to Holy Ghost and nearly scored on the seventh minute when Thatayaone Kgamanyane got an opportunity after Mothusi Cooper set him up but he shot wide. GU seemed to be on top of its game with Cooper bossing the midfield.

The first goal of the match came on the 30th minute when GU striker, Onkabetse Makgantai took a shot in the box and there was nothing much the goalkeeper, Botlhe Moralo could do about it.

GU continued to pile pressure and nearly got their second goal after Thatayaone Ramatlapeng delivered a dangerous cross but Makgantai's header went over the bar. GU carried a 1-0 lead at the halftime break.

From the break, GU maintained their dominance especially in the midfield and they doubled the lead on the 55th minute when captain, Mpho Kgaswane scored from close range.

The visiting side tried to come back into the game gradually as coach Razor Tsatsilebe made substitutions. However, the defending champions managed to hold onto the lead until the final whistle.

In a post-match interview GU assistant coach, Pontsho Moloi said he is happy for yet another win in the league. “We are really happy for the three points. We collected another three points last week, another clean sheet but I am not happy with the performance. We cannot be creating so many chances in the game and we fail to capitalise.

It is really annoying,” he said. In his post-match interview, Rapelang “Razor” Tsatsilebe head coach for said they lost the game to a superior team that has loads of experience compared to his team. "We really lost the game in the midfield; that is where GU hurt us. Our best player from last week was not available for this game,” he said.
