The accident occurred on Thursday afternoon at Modikwane ward in Serowe and the baby boy was rushed to Sekgoma Memorial Hospital but was later referred to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the following morning while hospitalised.

Investigating the case, No 2 district officer commanding, Senior Superintendent Paul Oketsang said the baby’s relative, a 31-year-old man, is in custody helping the police with investigations.

Oketsang stated that the young man is facing three counts of causing death by dangerous driving, failure to remain at the scene of the accident and driving an unlicensed motor vehicle.

“We received the report of the accident on Friday morning. I plead with all drivers to be cautious of their surroundings at all times, especially when driving into a yard because there could be children playing or running around,” he said.
