The company, which was launched recently during a glamorous occasion in Gaborone announced that its first project would be to organize and host the international pageant for the next five years.

Miss Supranational is an annual international beauty pageant that is run by the World Beauty Association.

The first edition of the pageant was held in Poland in 2009, where Ukraine was crowned the winner.

It is said that the pageant started with a group of contestants from over 40 countries, but the number has since doubled to more than 80 competitors from different continents, placing the pageant among the most prestigious in the world.

One of the company’s founding members, Kaone Moremong said Miss Supranational is among the five big international beauty pageants in the world.

“This year, a 112 participated in Miss Supranational. And during the two weeks that the pageant is taking place in Poland, because that is where it is based, more than a 100 million people viewed the live show. They are big on production and that’s what we are as well, that’s what we aspire. That is why our launch had to be as dramatic as it was,” said Moremong.

She said the journey to unearth new gems would start as soon as possible, adding that they would do things “totally different to what pageantry has been done in Botswana” for the past years.

Moremong stated that the search for the next beauty queens will involve scouting from the remotest places in the country so that they find hidden gems.

She also said the different talents in their team have the ability to produce the next beauty queen to represent the country at international stage.

“We will train them to ensure that they always win and blossom wherever they are, case in point Miss Independence Botswana,” she added.

It is said that Something Big were awarded the award ahead of five local enterprises that had bid for the license.
